Description
My most recent works; oil pastel drawings, designate a perceptually located duration of play, suspended by cyclical spectacles of disappearing and appearing within stationary constructs. Cubist, surrealist and op influences as well as Persian motifs and 20th century ornamentation have contributed visual vocabularies my work. Aside from appearance, the drawings are primarily a practice akin to ritual leaving behind traces of motion accumulated over time. The evidentiary surface becomes an immediate record of the body moving in space and pushing against physical boundaries. From the limits of my touch I can gaze into a fecund abyss.

    Gestures document my movements and physical proportions (bending, reaching, bowing, etc.). The "motion map" is a ground for local observations of a woodpecker and moth.

  • Crossing Legs: Document for Waiting

    Through movement and drawing my "analog" body becomes an instrument of mapping. This methodology inquires how we might re-experience our social architecture as the accumulated traces of our activities within it. Through drawing I contemplate on the impact of seemingly insignificant gestures, generating highly conspicuous formations -- a means for charting the expansive mental spaces that exist between the banal activities of everyday living.

My most recent works; oil pastel drawings, designate a perceptually located duration of play, suspended by cyclical spectacles of disappearing and appearing within stationary constructs.
